കലോത്സവ സ്മൃതി

1985 ലെ ജില്ലാ കലോൽസവത്തിൽ മലയാളം കവിതയിലാണ് ഞാൻ പങ്കെടുത്തത്. മോഡൽ ഗേൾസ് സ്കൂളിന്റെ രണ്ടാം നിലയിലെ ക്ലാസ്സ് മുറികളിലൊന്നിലായിരുന്നു മത്സരം. 

ജനലിനടുത്തായിരുന്നു ഇരിപ്പിടം. ഉച്ചതിരിഞ്ഞ് 2 മണിയ്ക്കായിരുന്നു മത്സരമെന്നോർമ. അന്നായിരുന്നു ജീവിതത്തിലെ ആദ്യ തൃശൂർ യാത്ര. അദ്ധ്യാപകനായിരുന്ന ജോസഫ് ചാക്കേരിയുടെ രാജ് ദൂതിന് പുറകിലിരുന്നു കൊണ്ട് തലോരിൽ നിന്നും തൃശൂരിലേക്കുള്ള ആദ്യത്തെ ബൈക്ക് യാത്രയും അന്നായിരുന്നു.

റൂമിന്റെ പുറത്ത് ചെറുകാറ്റിലിളകിയാടി ഏതോ ഒരു പൂമരമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അന്ന്, ജീവിതത്തിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ കവിത പിറന്നു.

ആദ്യത്തേത്, സ്കൂളിൽ , യുവജനോത്സവത്തിൽ വച്ചെഴുതിയതായിരുന്നു.

 

ഇന്ന്, ആ മരം അവിടെയുണ്ടാകുമോ ആവോ?

മത്സരത്തിനു ശേഷം മത്സരം നടക്കുന്ന വേദികൾക്കു ചുറ്റും കറങ്ങി നടന്നു. രാത്രി വെളിച്ചത്തിൽ തിളങ്ങി നിൽക്കുന്ന നഗരവും ആവോളം കണ്ടു.

ഇരുട്ടേറിയപ്പോൾ ഏതോ  ക്ലാസ്സ് മുറിയിൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി.

ഭക്ഷണ കൂപ്പൺ കിട്ടിയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് പട്ടിണിയായില്ല. റിസൽട്ട് വരുന്നതും കാത്ത് പിറേറദിവസത്തെ പകൽ മുഴുവൻ നിന്നു.

 കഥാപ്രസംഗം, മോഹിനിയാട്ടം, നാടോടി നൃത്തം...

പല ഇനങ്ങളുടെയും ഫലം വന്നു. മലയാളം കവിത മാത്രം വന്നില്ല.

നിരാശയോടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി.

അടുത്ത ദിവസത്തെ പത്രത്തിൽ മലയാളം കവിതയുടെ ഫലമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

പത്രത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായി പേരച്ചടിച്ചുവന്ന ദിവസം.!

എന്തൊരുൾക്കുളിരായിരുന്നന്ന് !

സംസ്ഥാന യുവജനോത്സവത്തിൽ തൃശൂരിനെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് പങ്കെടുത്തെങ്കിലും ഗ്രേ ഡേ കിട്ടിയുള്ളൂ. തൃശൂർ സംഘത്തിൽ ഇന്നത്തെ പ്രശസ്ത ഗായകനായ അൽഫോൻസും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്നോർമിക്കുന്നു.

വൈലോപ്പിള്ളി മത്സരം നടക്കുന്ന ക്ലാസ്സ് മുറിയിലേക്ക് വന്നതോർക്കുന്നു. ഭയം തോന്നി. ഭക്തിയും ബഹുമാനവും.

പിന്നെ എത്രയെത്ര കലോത്സവ വേദികൾ !

കാവ്യദേവതയെ എതാനും വർഷങ്ങൾകൂടി പൂജിച്ചുവെങ്കിലും പിന്നെയെപ്പോഴോ എഴുതാനുള്ള ആവേശം നഷ്ടമായി.

കവിത മനസ്സിൽ മാത്രമായൊതുങ്ങി.

മനസ്സ് 32 വർഷങ്ങൾ പുറകിലേക്ക് ചിറകിട്ടടിച്ചു പറന്നു പോയതാണ്.

ക്ഷമിക്കണം.

എല്ലാ മത്സരാർത്ഥികൾക്കും വിജയാശംസകൾ

My Memoir with respect to Kalolsavam in my childhood.

Years back, when I was in 8th standard, I also have got opportunity to participate in state kalolsavam and also have won grace mark. The item that I participated was kadhaprasagam. As it was a by hearted item, I was fully confident in that. The increase in the number of audience made me more and more enthusiastic. I was then a student of convent school. I joined in that school in 8th standard. On seeing my confidence in kadhaprasagam, the headmistress of my school gave my name for elocution without my knowledge. Moreover, it was only on the day of participation that she informed me regarding it! But I was not at all confident in that. After saying that, she put a book in my hand to prepare. On hearing that, I was so embarrassed and confused and was not able to prepare. Both of my competitions-kadhaprasangam and elocution were on the main stage. 1st was kadhaprasagam and after sometime, there came elocution competition. For kadhaprasagam, most of the participants came with full orchestra set played by experts from outside. On those days it was not children who played background music. But I didn't have any orchestra set, instead only one simple instrument called 'chaplangatta'. Actually, I was so ashamed to go to the stage with that cheap instrument. But as it was a by hearted item, I had the mind to perform that with confidence. And with God's grace, I got the 1st prize! Everybody congratulated me! But alas! After some time there came the villain-elocution competition-on the same stage itself. To my great astonishment, after giving the topic they put me in an isolated room so that I may not be able to hear what the other competitor was telling. Even though I tried my level best, I could not hear any single word of it. Then my turn came. My heart was beating so fast that I could hear it! I was very embarrassed. I was not the same, bold girl who came sometime before on the same stage to tell kadhaprasangam. I trembled with fear. I told some sentences and again and again I repeated the same sentences. Tears started to roll from my eyes. At last the result was announced! Oh! God! I got 2nd prize! Do you want to know how it happened! Because there were only two participants for elocution competition!! So what I would like to tell all parents and teachers is that make the children participate only in the item in which they can excel!!!
